The second round of the European Classic Series 2017 will be held on Saturday 1st of July in the evening, as part of the generous Bikers'Classics menu. As for the ten previous editions of these 4 Hours of Spa Classic, one should expect to experience an intense show. The Belgian teams will have revenge for the 2016 season as their main goal. Starting with Greg Fastré, now seconded by the Frenchman Bruno Le Bihan. Unfortunate in Spa last year, 'Fast' Greg is thirsty for victory, especially since he must also try to forget his abandonment in the first round of the ECS 2017, early May in Donington Park, not to mention his current setbacks In the 'modern' endurance world championship. With a Team Force more motivated than ever, a perfectly prepared Suzuki GSX F1, an impressive speed and a "metronome" regularity, Greg and his new teammate will not have the easy life ...
They will not only have to bypass the inevitable vagaries of the race (crashes, mechanical problems, incidents ...), but will also have to deal with formidable opponents. Among them, the famous Guy Martin, best known as a major specialist of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, but above all a very versatile rider. He finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013. So let's just say he does not lack endurance experience. The "Brexit" being a very actual issue, he is also keen on doing as well as his compatriot John McGuinness, the moral winner of the 2016 edition. For the occasion, Guy Martin will team up with Peter Boast on a Suzuki Katana Team Classic Suzuki.
Among the contenders for victory, it is impossible not to mention Team Neate, made up of three members of the Neate family: John, Steven and Sam. As regulars of the ECS, they have the wind in their sails: champions in title and winners of the opening event at Donington Park, they are among the favourites for the victory, as are the two teams of Sweatshop Phase One led by Peter Linden and Ian Simpson.
The Italians of Team Taurus (Giorgio Cantalupo and Sandro Caprara) also took a superb second place at Donington Park while they were actually part of the 'reserve' teams. Second was also their place at the finish of the 4 Hours of Spa Classic 2016, behind the Roadrunner Team of Henk Van der Mark and Dirk Brand, joined for the occasion by Rafael Sinke. The Dutch team, on a Suzuki GSX 1100, will want to sign a double victory on the most beautiful circuit in the world.
The outsiders are also numerous: the teams Alfs, SCERT, Classic Boxer Endurance and Kaiser Classic teams will also have a say in the overall victory, but the fight will also be raging in the other categories. In short, the show will be intense for these 4 Hours of Spa Classic 2017, whose start will be given on Saturday July 1st at 20h, by Bastien Mackels crowned World Endurance Champion last weekend. As for the qualifying and night sessions, they will take place on Friday 30 June.
