There will be a lot of participants for the opening of the European Classic Series 2017 season at DONINGTON PARK on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May. And not just anyone, as the main participants of this championship are more and more established riders, but also many English teams that will not compete the whole championship (and who will not score points), but who want to prove themselves on their home tracks.
In its fifth season, it is the first time that ECS heads for the legendary British circuit, located in the heart of England (north of Leicester, about 570 km from Brussels) and known as "The Heart Of British Motorsport ".
The logical contenders for the victory, The Neate Racing team, consisting of two brothers (Steven and Sam) and their father (John) Neate, reigning champions, will play on their home ground and will benefit from a strong support from the crowd. They will not have the easy life though, with another "local" team, Sweatshop Phase One by Peter Linden and Ian Simpson. And let's not forget the Belgian Team Force, which aligns Grégory Fastré now associated with Frenchman Bruno Le Bihan since the retirement of Richard Hubin. The Dutchmen of the RoadRunner Team are also favorites with Dirk Brand and Henk Van Der Mark, as well as several other continental teams, whether they are German, French or Italian.
Among the "luxury freelancers", we note the presence of a second machine of Sweatshop Phase One, entrusted to Hugh Brasher and Mike Dickinson. Team Classic Suzuki will also look great with Jamie Whitham, Steve Parrish and Michael Neeves on a GSX 1100 SD Katana.
In short, this opening round of the ECS 2017 promises an intense spectacle for the 4 hours of racing which will take place on Sunday 7 May from 15 to 19 hours. And to top this off, Motul, the historic partner of the championship, relaunches its Motul Challenge and will offer numerous prizes to the teams who will display its colors.
